Our TFMS Archery Team ended the regular season with a bang today, shooting our highest score of the season. We finished 7th out of 30 teams, quite respectable in such a strong, competitive region.
We’ll start with personal bests: Carly McGee +3, Mary Frisk +11, Kiersten Hightchew +12, and Celeste Roberts +25. Carly McGee placed 15th out of 308 girls and Mary Frisk placed 17th. Mike Creamer placed 15th out of 371 boys. Congratulations to Mary Frisk for her PERFECT 50! Our Top 12, earning our team score today, were Carly McGee, Mary Frisk, Mike Creamer, Hunter Harms, Duncan Cornelius, Billy Wogenstahl, Jacob Wilson, Kiersten Hightchew, Adrienne Aitken, Grant Barnhill, Ella Nier, and Hana Kennedy. Some of our archers will move on to the 2017 Kentucky NASP State Tournament on March 31 or April 1. The team will be announced early next week on our website. Parents will also be notified by email. A new practice schedule and practice group structure will also be placed on the website for the state competitors as soon as we receive approval for gym time. We will be taking next week off before kicking back into practice mode on or about February 22. State competitors should mark their calendars for March 11. We will be shooting in a warm-up tournament on that day. We’ve had a great season and are blessed to have such a great group of kids on our team. Thanks to all the parents for their support and help throughout the season. Tomorrow is the Region 8 Tournament at the St. Henry Athletic Complex. All archers will shoot at 2:15 pm. Please arrive by 1:45. Do not arrive much earlier! There's simply no place for everyone there. The complex is located at 35 Cavalier Blvd. in Florence (the old Sports of All Sorts).
For those who attended the last St. Henry tournament, you'll recall the limited staging area. It is not comfortable and gets very congested. Therefore, it is best that it remains limited to archers only so that they can prepare for the competition. The parking at the complex will be challenging. Extra parking is being provided at Boone County HS, just down the street. We strongly urge all archers to bring a tournament set of arrows. We have some, of course, but with bounce outs and the possibility of having to swap out due to arrow shaft similarities on the lanes, we are limited. For some, this will be the last tournament of the season. Others will move on to the Kentucky NASP State Tournament on March 31 or April 1. For all, we hope that you shoot your personal best today and end the regular season with a BANG! The state team will be determined on or about February 14 and will be posted here on this site. Those who are invited to compete on the state team will need to pay a $25 tournament fee OR participate in some fundraising to offset the cost. More details will come about fundraising. We hope to plan an end-of-the-season archery "banquet" and will send out details when the plans are set. Though we didn’t exceed our best team score of the season, we scored well at Notre Dame on January 28. This marked the last regular season tournament before Regionals on February 11.
Our Top 12 contributing to our team score were Mike Creamer, Jasper Peeno, Billy Wogenstahl, Mary Frisk, Hunter Harms, Adrienne Aitken, Carly McGee, Duncan Cornelius, Hana Kennedy, Grant Barnhill, Keegan Rust, and Kendall Ragan. Several archers achieved personal bests: Jasper Peeno (+3), Hana Kennedy (+3), Nick Ketron (+18), Sean Connelly (+26), Phoebe Roberts (+12), Clair Meyers (+20), and Kevin Glass (+10), Be sure to take note of our practice schedule before Regionals. We are unable to get our TFMS gym on 2/4 and 2/11 because of a basketball tournament. If possible, please supplement the remaining after-school tournaments with a visit (or more) to M & M. Our team goal for Regionals is 3170. That’s an average of 264 for our Top 12. WE CAN DO IT! |
